The fascination of "dinosaurs" is surprisingly great among children. This may be due to the fact that this species has been extinct for millions of years and is therefore not “tangible” for them.
What is so exciting about these primeval monsters?
The kids still come into contact with dinosaurs and some find these "monstrous" animals - such as the T-Rex (Tyrannosaurus rex) - just super exciting.
Young parents may still remember the cartoons from the series “In a Land Before Time”, in which different species of dinosaurs often had to struggle to survive. There was, for example, the funny main character “Littlefoot”, a Brontosaurus who had a few more adventures with his friends “Ducky” (Saurolophus), “Petrie” (Pteranodon), “Spike” (Stegosaurus) and the slightly bitchy Cera (Triceratops) have denied less successfully. This film series consists of 14 films. In 2007 a 26-part series with the same name came on television, in which the protagonists from the films of the time are now young adults and have to cope with their lives.
Furthermore, there are many films about dinosaurs which, thanks to the new computer technology, suggest to the viewer in a sometimes very impressive way that they are actually not about any extinct beings, but about animals from our time.
Over many years and often in laborious work, archaeologists found individual bones from a wide variety of dinosaurs, which were put together in scientific work. In the course of time, it was possible to recreate the individual species of dinosaurs. Therefore we now know what a "long neck" like Littlefoot or a sharp-toothed T-Rex looks like. For a while, there was a T-Rex skeleton in the entrance hall of the Berlin Natural History Museum.
In books or on the Internet you can find a lot of information about how the dinosaurs used to live, which of them were gentle, which plants ate and which preferred meat as food.
All in all, the topic of dinosaurs seems to have lost none of its fascination. And maybe one or two adults will actually find the topic just as exciting as our dear kids.
Be that as it may, once the kids have discovered the coloring pages here, they might well come up with great new stories and further adventures with little Littlefoot and his friends while painting.
Or curiosity about a museum visit is aroused, which one could then plan as a destination for the next rainy day.
