A balanced diet and adequate fluid intake are fundamental building blocks for skin health. Regular exfoliation, about once or twice a week, removes dead skin cells and promotes cell renewal. Finally, the application of a nightly care product, such as a rich night cream or a regenerating oil, can nourish and regenerate the skin overnight. Sugary foods cause a rapid rise in blood sugar levels, which leads to increased insulin production. Insulin, in turn, increases the production of sebum and can promote inflammation, making the skin more susceptible to acne. Dairy products also contain hormones that can worsen the appearance of acne by disrupting the balance of natural skin hormones.

Dietary changes can be an effective way to improve acne symptoms. A diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory foods can help improve skin appearance. Fish such as salmon, vegetables such as spinach and nuts such as almonds are excellent sources of such nutrients. Reducing the consumption of processed foods and replacing them with whole grains and fresh fruit can also have positive effects.
