Even the most beautiful summer comes to an end at some point, or it seems as though it rains non-stop even in summer. And sentences like "but it's good for nature" are true, but they don't calm children down.
Indoor game ideas
So the time always comes when the children no longer want to play outside

Muffin eating contest
You need:
- Hat, scarf, gloves (mittens)
- 1 dice
- 1 muffin per child
- Knife and fork for every child
This game requires speed and skill and is sure to provide some laughs.
All children sit down at the table and are given a muffin with cutlery in front of them. We put the hat, scarf and gloves in the middle of the table. Then everyone takes turns rolling the dice. The first child to roll a 6 quickly puts on the hat, scarf and gloves and then has to eat their muffin with a knife and fork. The others keep rolling the dice in the meantime, because if another 6 is rolled, it's the next person's turn and the winter clothes are quickly handed over by the last eater, who now has to take a break. The first person to eat their muffin under these difficult circumstances is the winner!
Gift spin the bottle
To make present giving at a birthday party a lot of fun, we simply turn it into a game of spin the bottle.
All the children sit in a circle on the floor and the presents are placed on the table. The birthday child can start spinning the bottle. The child the bottle points to can choose a present from the table, except for their own, and give it to the birthday child. The host unwraps their present and then has to guess who the present might be from. If the guess is correct, the last person to choose the present can spin the bottle.
Guess the food
You need:
- Various foods and drinks
- A blindfold scarf
This is a game that the children will remember for a long time. Parents prepare a few bowls and glasses with food and drinks beforehand. These can be of a variety of types, such as pineapple, corn, mustard, cocoa powder, ketchup, liver sausage, Fanta, orange juice, beetroot juice and so on - there are no limits to your imagination.
The children are blindfolded one after the other and are given 3 or 4 things that they have to "taste". The other children, whose turn it is not, are allowed to watch and perhaps lure the guesser onto the right or wrong track by shouting things like "eeeeewwww" or "mmmm delicious". The person who guesses the most things is the winner!
Stille Post
Ancient, but still one of the most popular games is Chinese whispers. Since most people will be familiar with it, it is also easy to explain. All the children sit in a row and the first one thinks of a funny sentence, e.g. "The cat takes Grandma to the laundromat" and writes it down to be safe. Then he whispers the sentence to the next child in the row and so on until you get to the last child. The last child then has to say the sentence that he or she has understood out loud, and all sorts of funny things will happen!
Grapes in water
You need:
- Lots of grapes
- A shallow bowl filled with water
- stopwatch
The children will have a lot to laugh about here too. A bowl that is not very deep is filled with water and a measured amount of grapes is put into it. Each child then has exactly 1 minute to fish as many grapes out of the bowl as possible with their mouth. Of course, the pearl diver is not allowed to use their hands! The water and grapes should of course be changed for each child beforehand. The person who has caught the most pearls at the end is the winner! Caution: Danger of swallowing!
We also welcome constructive criticism – after all, we always want to improve.
