Photosynthesis explained for Children

Photosynthesis is like a cooking recipe for plants to make their food. They take sunlight, water from the ground and carbon dioxide from the air and mix it all together in their leaves, which are like little kitchens. Sunlight is used as energy to allow the ingredients to combine, producing a sweet substance called glucose that the plants can eat. They also produce oxygen, which we have to breathe in order to live. Photosynthesis helps plants grow and at the same time makes the air fresh for animals and people.
