Explained in a child-friendly way, you can imagine it like this: the earth is heated by the sun and gives off this heat again. Some of this heat is retained by a layer of gases in the atmosphere. These gases are called greenhouse gases. If there are too many greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere, it can cause the Earth’s temperatures to increase. This is called the man-made greenhouse effect. This is a big problem for our climate and can lead to many negative effects. It is important that we are all aware of how we can do our part to reduce the greenhouse effect.
